Lighting efficiency goes beyond reducing installed power. The real objective is to provide the light each space needs, using resources more rationally without compromising lighting quality or the performance of the installation. In linear lighting, improvements in LED strips now make it possible to work with higher luminous efficacies and select the appropriate power and luminous flux more precisely for each application.

More light for every watt consumed
Luminous efficacy, expressed in lumens per watt (lm/W), relates the amount of light emitted to the energy needed to produce it. The higher this ratio, the greater the output that can be achieved from the installed power. Efficient lighting design does not necessarily mean choosing the LED strip with the highest lumens per watt. It means sizing the installation correctly. Lighting integrated into furniture, a line providing ambient light and a linear solution intended to deliver functional lighting for a space have very different requirements. Selecting the appropriate power avoids both oversized installations and solutions operating at the limits of their capabilities.

Moon: a range for different lighting requirements
With this approach, Lluria renews its IP20 range with Moon, a family of LED strips developed to cover different lighting levels with high efficiency. The range comprises six power ratings – 3, 7, 10, 14, 19 and 25 W/m – covering integrated applications with modest lighting requirements through to functional linear lighting solutions with considerably higher luminous flux. Luminous efficacies reach up to 168 lm/W, depending on the product reference and the selected colour temperature. This breadth makes it possible to select the strip according to the actual needs of the project, rather than use the same solution for applications with very different requirements.

Efficiency and light quality must go hand in hand
Energy consumption is just one part of the equation. Efficient lighting must provide good colour rendering, colour stability and uniform light emission once integrated into the space. Moon offers CRI >90, colour consistency of 3 MacAdam Steps and different colour temperatures, providing a broader choice to suit the materials, atmosphere and intended use. The relationship between the strip, profile and diffuser is decisive in achieving a continuous line of light suited to each application. Discussing efficiency in linear lighting therefore requires performance, light quality and integration to be assessed together.

Designing with lifetime in mind
The efficiency of an installation should not be assessed solely on its consumption during operation. Component durability and reduced replacement requirements form part of its long-term performance. In this respect, the renewed IP20 range includes warranties of up to 10 years. Moon 3, 7, 10 and 14 have a 10-year warranty; Moon 19 has an 8-year warranty; and Moon 25 has a 5-year warranty. A longer lifetime can reduce maintenance work and replacements, which is particularly relevant for installations in intensive use or where integrated lighting is more difficult to access.

A more efficient range for more precise lighting design
Improved LED strip efficiency makes it possible to achieve the required lighting performance with lower consumption and refine the choice of light source at the design stage. Power, luminous flux, luminous efficacy, colour temperature, colour rendering and LED density must be assessed together to find the appropriate solution for each application.
With the new Moon range, Lluria broadens these possibilities through an IP20 family covering discreet integrated solutions through to functional linear lighting with demanding requirements. It offers different power ratings and luminous flux levels, luminous efficacies of up to 168 lm/W, CRI >90 and warranties of up to 10 years. A range developed to adapt lighting more closely to each project, optimising consumption without sacrificing light quality or the integration possibilities of linear lighting.
