Nestled in the municipality of Alto Arán, the Church of Santa Maria de Arties is a gem of Catalan Romanesque architecture, celebrated for its architectural richness. Declared a Cultural Asset of National Interest, its value lies in its stone walls and intricate architectural details that tell a story spanning centuries. At Lluria, we were privileged to contribute a contemporary and respectful lighting solution that enhances the church’s beauty while preserving its sacred character.

Protecting, highlighting and preserving
The proposed lighting design accentuates the grandeur of the Romanesque structure, highlighting its distinctive architectural elements and ornamental details. A discreet system was employed—crucial to ensuring heritage protection while maintaining an optimal balance between functionality and cultural preservation.

Tatun 18
In this context, the Tatun 18W/m wall washer is the ideal solution for illuminating the vaults and murals that adorn the church. This linear system emits soft, controlled light that accentuates details without overwhelming the scene. Its integrated 30°x50° elliptical lens ensures efficient light distribution, providing uniform coverage tailored to the specific needs of this worship space.

Soft and controlled light
The quality of Lluria’s products and systems guarantees effective lighting that protects artistic and architectural elements. By illuminating the vaults and murals of the Church of Santa Maria de Arties with soft, controlled light, the risk of damage caused by harsher lighting is mitigated, ensuring the preservation of this heritage site.

Authenticity and spiritual essence
The project preserves the historical and architectural integrity of the church while enhancing the visibility of its artistic details. At Lluria, we are proud to have contributed to elevating the perception of this iconic church without compromising its authenticity. Thanks to this approach, visitors can enjoy an experience where the beauty of the architecture merges seamlessly with lighting that reflects the spiritual essence of the site.
