Maraba Studio collaborated on a project for the new Nores Dental Clinic headquarters, located in the Lanzarote town of Arrecife, to meet the needs of both patients and medical professionals. The studio relied on Lluria’s products and technology to create comfortable and warm lighting in the waiting areas and more precise lighting in the exam rooms.

Responding to the client’s requirements, Maraba Studio developed a lighting project with a contemporary aesthetic, but at the same time maintaining traditional dental clinic elements such as white and bright lights.

The star feature of the applied concept is the line of light that runs through the corridors, the waiting area and the reception. ‘For us it was essential that the pathway within the clinic was very simple and obvious for the patients. That’s why we set out to create a ring of light that will guide them instinctively,’ explain Paula and Cristina Martínez Abad, co-founders of Maraba Studio.

The light ring progressively varies in colour temperature, with a very warm heart that gradually cools down as the client approaches the examination rooms. Thus, the vertical light lines in the reception area have a temperature of 2700k and 3000k on the ceilings, increasing to 4000k in the corridors and reaching 5000k in the work rooms.

In the background, the indirect overhead light integrated into the pitched ceiling provides indirect lighting and accents to prevent the light from becoming monotonous.

Another outstanding feature of the project developed by Maraba Studio is the bioclimatic pergola installed in the waiting room in the clinic’s inner courtyard, which provides a distinctive and unique touch as well as great versatility throughout the year. When opened, its modern retractable roof lets in the sun’s rays, and when closed it keeps the rain and cold out. The linearly lit floor has been covered with a translucent opal glass, allowing the light to spread diffusely.

In the corridors, the exam rooms have been signposted in a very visual way with backlit numbering on laser-cut wood.

The treatment rooms, on the other hand, have been solved in an aesthetic and functional way by means of artificial skylights that extend from wall to wall, bathing the space in a light that provides a high level of visual comfort. Although each room has only one light switch, the intensity of the 5000k cold light can be readily adjusted.
