No Artists, No Creative District: Light in defence of art

On the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the Cruïlla Festival, the Cruïlla Arts programme hosted the installation No Artists, No Creative District, presented by Lluria in collaboration with Poblenou Urban District. This large-scale light artwork defends the essential role of artists in shaping culture and the creative scene. A bold piece with strong visual impact that formed part of the festival’s artistic route throughout the four days of the event.

Body and message

Previously presented at OFF Llum Barcelona, the installation regains its symbolic power to encourage critical reflection on the transformation of Poblenou, where art and creativity have been engines of change. The image of a falling figure denounces the loss of creative spaces and draws attention to the effects of gentrification on the city’s artistic presence.

System used

The lighting implemented by Lluria for this piece uses the LED strip Basic New 14.2 IP65 with a colour temperature of 4000 K, installed on an ST14 profile with a matte silver finish. Through the Casambi system, three scenes were configured with different switching speeds, setting the visual rhythm of the installation.

Technical solidity and reuse

The piece was integrated into a large-scale metal structure, visible from various points within the venue and in dialogue with the rest of the programme. For its assembly, materials and solutions previously used at OFF Llum Barcelona were reused, reflecting Lluria’s commitment to sustainability and resource optimisation.

Cultural commitment

With this lighting action, Lluria reaffirms its alliance with Poblenou Urban District and the entire creative community that brings life to the area. A collaboration that places light at the service of critical thinking and the value of art, promoting cities where culture remains an engine of identity, transformation, and future.
