Gone are the days of bulky, outdated floodlights used to illuminate façade balconies. Today, linear lighting has emerged as the perfect solution for those seeking to enhance architectural value, functionality, and safety. With Lluria’s LED profiles and strips, it’s possible to create a welcoming and appealing space that encourages socializing and relaxation. Below, we explore various methods and systems for integrating this linear technology into exterior balconies

Uplighting
Upward-facing lighting—also known as uplighting—provides a gentle glow that highlights the architecture and design of the space. If there is an opportunity to integrate lighting into the flooring, Lluria’s ST56 or ST55 profiles are excellent options to achieve a uniform wash of light. This type of lighting is particularly beneficial for compact balconies, where optimizing space is a priority, as it illuminates without occupying additional surface area.

Façade recesses
Another interesting option is to integrate linear lighting into the lintels and jambs of windows. This creates a light frame that elegantly outlines and highlights the contours of the architecture. To achieve this effect, we recommend using the ST52 profile combined with LED strips ranging from 4.8 W/m to 14.4 W/m, depending on the size of the recess and its intended use.

Hidden integration
Lighting can also be integrated discreetly into handrails or in areas not easily visible. In this case, the ST4, ST32, or ST2 profiles provide indirect lighting that softly washes the usable floor area of the balcony, offering functional aesthetics without glare. If the balcony design features complex shapes, we can use the Cougar IP68 LED strips with their new corrosion-resistant flexible silicone profile, adaptable to any organic geometry.
