In summer, when the heat is at its peak, bar and restaurant terraces become one of city dwellers’ most precious assets. While they are not usually at their busiest during the hottest hours of the day, at nightfall they are thronged with people.

More and more bars and restaurants are investing in and valuing good lighting design.

The moment we decide to refurbish our home, we are presented with the opportunity to reflect on our way of living

Although they’re an essential and unavoidable part of a home’s floor plan, passing spaces are usually largely forgotten when it comes to solving the architecture and lighting.

When developing a lighting plan, it’s important to imagine what sort of environment is desired for each space and therefore what type of lighting will be most appropriate. Beyond these premises, there are other essential aspects that cannot be forgotten in a full-scale project that takes in the lighting of each and every element, staircases included. Though there are many ways to light up a staircase, here at Lluria we want to offer you what we believe are the most ideal solutions.
While it may seem obvious, it must be borne in mind that a staircase is a hub of communication between two spaces and as such it needs to be properly lit to prevent possible accidents. Hence, safety must always be the highest priority, over the decorative aspect. With this in mind, it is important to find a balanced level of light that allows people to clearly distinguish each individual stair from the others, avoiding shadows or dark zones. As designers, our objective is to create a safe space that adds value to the building and accentuates the design of the staircase. In recent years, linear LED strip systems have revolutionised lighting design. They can be installed anywhere and they are easily adaptable to different lengths. Very often, staircases are planned as objects of design, taking on very diverse shapes and materials. For this reason, it is essential to adequately indicate and illuminate each of its main components and transform a place of transit into a decorative element that enhances the room or building.

We live in a world where everything happens at high speed, where we hardly have time to rest and disconnect from our hectic day-to-day lives. Living a healthy life involves searching, finding and taking time for yourself. Stress has become the disease of the 21st century and a good way to combat it is through relaxation or wellness spaces. This new concept of healthy living is achieved by creating a balance between your mental, physical and emotional well-being.
Light plays an important role in this last state because, as you know, 80% of the information that human beings receive is transmitted through the sense of sight. This is why sensory perception through light is so decisive in our emotional balance. Today, treatments based on visual exposure through the use of colour — a technique known as chromotherapy — can help drastically improve our mood.

The value of a design project is independent of its scale. The success of the final result only depends on the effort made to think and rethink with dedication and creativity the formal configuration of said space. Each project must be unique and must tell its own story.

In the summer, swimming pools become an invaluable asset to have at home. More and more pool projects are incorporating new technological components, materials and finishes in order to achieve a more refreshing and invigorating swim. In general, we tend to associate swimming with the hottest hours of the day, but what happens when night falls?
Light is an important element to take into account when designing a pool, as a good lighting design can add tons of value. To achieve this, it’s important to take into account aspects such as the environment or setting where the pool is located, finishes, colours and materials, without losing sight of the most important thing: the atmosphere you want to achieve.
Over the last few years, lighting a pool has been reduced to the haphazard installation of spotlights or spot projectors with the sole aim of allowing one to see underwater. This creates unbalanced and heterogeneous lighting that, in addition to producing glare, diminishes the swimming pool’s functionality and architectural beauty.

On 8 June, Lluria Lighting System participated in the APDI Open Doors event organised by the Professional Lighting Designers Association. The ‘Expressive and Emotional Potential of LED Linears’ webinar aimed to share with the group of attending designers and consultants from the lighting industry Lluria’s professional dedication and commitment to quality and creativity.
In his introduction, our manager Antoni Planellas highlighted the company’s commitment to cultural change, to exploiting the innovation of the LED Linear and to anticipating market needs. As technology is perfected and as its performance is refined, Lluria’s product ranges are increasingly unique and more complete to respond to the challenges of the most demanding projects. For instance, like the latest collection for parametric design that’s about to be presented to the market.
At Lluria we’re aware of the great expressive potential of linear LEDs for projects. Our mission is to actively listen to lighting professionals’ needs, helping them translate their ideas into concrete solutions and materialise their creative visions, thanks to a highly qualified and close human team
